Six in a Row – Hart BOE Recognized for Excellence in Financial Reporting

For the sixth consecutive year, the Hart County Board of Education is being recognized statewide for excellent financial reporting.

The Hart County Board of Education was recently honored with the “Award of Distinction for Excellent Financial Reporting” from the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts.

The award marks the sixth consecutive year the Hart County Board of Education has earned the distinction.

Superintendent Jay Floyd recognized the financial department members as stellar performers at the June 14 regular meeting of the Hart County Board of Education.

“I’ve been a part of several outstanding school districts. But I’ve never been a part of a school district that has performed the way this school district has performed financially and in the form of recognition..,” he said in recognizing the financial department Monday evening. “I’ve been a part of some good school districts and we fought like crazy to get one recognition. We fought like crazy to get recognized two times but six years in a row and not have any hits on your audits…that’s pretty amazing.”

Financial Department members recognized include; Finance Director Donna Jones, Annie Skelton, Kayla Fleming, Jennifer Skrecz, Sherry Dobbs, Lisa Bucksot, Robin Ely, and Rebecca Floyd.

“It’s a strenuous process, to begin with,” Superintendent Floyd said. “But when you go through the process and you have no negative findings, it should give the public confidence in the expenditure process that our employees are being excellent financial stewards of the community’s funds. I want to commend our entire financial department on a job well done, and for being honored with this award for the sixth year in a row.”

An award of distinction is presented to organizations that submit quality financial statements and supporting documentation in a timely manner, whose annual financial report is given an unmodified audit opinion and is free of any significant deficiencies or material weakness, and comply with all Transparency in Government Act requirements.
