Schulman announces a run for Lavonia City Council
The City of Lavonia now has a second candidate who intends to run for city council – former Lavonia police officer Michael Schulman.
Schulman lived in Bowersville for 18 years before moving to Lavonia in 2016. He worked for the Lavonia Police Department for 17 years. Schulman was shot in the line of duty in December 2016 along with fellow police officer Jeffrey Martin. He received the Purple Heart as a result.
Schulman said he is running for city council because he wants to continue to serve Lavonia, this time in a different way.
“I’m excited to announce my candidacy for Lavonia City Council. After serving the people of Lavonia for 17 years with the Lavonia Police Department, I would like to continue to serve in a different capacity. I look forward to serving everyone in Lavonia fairly. I will listen openly to the concerns of all of our community members with the goal of continuing to make Lavonia a great place to live, one that continues to thrive but maintains that small town feel. Together we can accomplish these goals. I’m asking for your vote on Nov. 5,” said Schulman.
Schulman now works at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital as Chief of Security.
He is married to Kelley Schulman and the couple have a 9-year-old daughter named Madison and a 6-year-old son named Zane.
