Salvation Army Angel Trees Are Up to Help Children Have a Happy Christmas

In October, the Salvation Army Toccoa office began taking applications from families needing gifts for their children at Christmas.

That ended October 31, and now it’s time for those who want to help out a family to pick an angel from the Salvation Army Angel Tree.

Toccoa Salvation Army Director Rebecca Dixon says this year they have hundreds of children they need to supply gifts for, but could have had hundreds more if the application deadline had been extended.

So now is the time for people to pick an angel from the Salvation Army tree, and there are several ways you can do that.

One is to stop by a participating Walmart and pick an angel off the tree.

Another way, Dixon said, is to go online to the Walmart website.

You have until December 8 to drop off your gifts at the Salvation Army Thrift Store, which opens November 17 at its new location next to Walmart in the Walmart shopping center.

And if you can’t buy many gifts for one child, you can still make a monetary donation to the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program, and that donation will be used to help buy gifts for other children as well.
