Royston Moves Trick-or-Treat to Wellness Park This Year

A number of Halloween events are taking place for the kiddos in our area this year.

In Royston, the Downtown Development Authority/Main Street is sponsoring a Halloween trick or treat at the Royston Community and Wellness Park Friday evening, October 29 from 4p to 6p.

Last year, due to the pandemic, Royston held a drive-through trick or treat event.

This year, DDA Executive Director Michael Crump says parents will have a choice at the park for how their little gremlins, goblins, superheroes, and fairy princesses collect their treats.

“We’re moving it out to the park to better control traffic. Businesses and groups that want to participate can either set up tables along the walking track or they can set up as a trunk-or-treat in the parking lot. It’s a way for kids and parents to come out and trick-or-treat in a safe environment,” he said.

Normally, there would also be a costume parade along with the trick or treating. This year, Crump said the costume contest will be virtual.

“We moved our contest online. So anyone who wants to enter the costume contest can take photos and email them to [email protected] by November 2. Then we will post those photos on Facebook in the different age categories. And the ones that get the most likes will be the winners in the different age categories,” Crump explained.

Again, the Royston Halloween event takes place Friday evening, October 29 from 4p to 6p.
