Public’s Help Sought in Lake House Tavern Fire

Cause of Lake House Tavern fire still under investigation

Fire Investigators with the Safety Fire Commissioner’s Office are currently searching for information regarding the blaze that destroyed the Lake House Tavern on Rock Springs Road in Lavonia over Labor Day weekend.

It happened Saturday morning, August 31st.

By the time Hart County Firefighters arrived, the building was fully engulfed in flames.

Neighbors living across the street from the restaurant reported seeing fire on the back porch about 9:30a that morning.

EMS Director Terrell Partain said the building was a total loss.

Hart County Fire Chief Jerry Byrum confirmed later that week that had asked the State Fire Marshal’s office to investigate the cause of the blaze.

Safety Fire Commissioner John F. King tells WLHR News the cause of the fire is still under investigation due to the heavy amount of damage the structure sustained.

King said the fire has not been ruled arson, but anyone with knowledge about this fire should call the Arson Hotline at 1‐800‐282‐5804.

Rewards are offered of up to $10,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of an arsonist. Calls are taken 24 hours a day and callers can choose to remain anonymous.

The Hart County Fire Department and Hart County Sheriff’s Office are assisting with this investigation.
