Open Mic Night Finale Set for Monday, January 20 at Ritz Theatre in Toccoa

Next Monday, Jan. 20, 2020, marks the grand finale of the Open Mic Monday held at the Historic Ritz Theatre at the Schafer Center in downtown Toccoa.

The event starts promptly at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

What started in 2017 as a one-time event, the Open Mic competition has now grown to be a beloved annual event for the public and performers alike.

From September through December, a competition is held on the first Monday of the month. Performers from around North Georgia display their talents and compete for a chance to perform at the Ida Cox Music Festival in Toccoa during the summer.

Ritz Theatre General Manager Tami Mayhugh says Monday’s event will feature this season’s  winners from the fall performances who are returning to compete for the grand prize.

Those performers include singer Garret Lott; The Farm Jam Youth Band, the winner of the Bluegrass group;  Singer/Songwriter James Hutton; and Battle of the Bands winner Becca and the Boys.

Mayhugh tells WLHR News the public is invited to come out and enjoy a night of great music and support local entertainers.

Again, the grand finale of the Open Mic Monday is slated for Monday, Jan. 20 at 7 p.m.
