Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter in Urgent Need of Pet Food

The Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter is putting out the call for donations of pet food.

Shelter Director Tammi Jourdenais said the shelter is at capacity with dogs and cats needing homes and more food is needed.

“We are almost completely full of dogs and cats. We are in desperate need of dog food, cat food, puppy food, and kitten food,” she said. “As winter approaches, the animals instinctively consume more food and the little angels are eating us out of house and home!!”

Meantime, Jourdenais said if you are planning to adopt a cat or kitten for Christmas now is the time to do so before the holidays to give your new family member a chance to settle in before the hustle and bustle of the holidays, which can be stressful for both the cat/kitten and you.

“We have a large number of kittens just waiting for their forever homes, she said. “Their $40 adoption fee covers their spay or neuter, shots, and deworming. We also have some cats and kittens that have already been spayed or neutered and their adoption fee is just $20.”

Donations of dog and cat food can be dropped off at our shelter Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturdays, from 11 to 4.  The shelter is located at 870 Bear Creek Rd. in
Lavonia.
