New Hunting Guide Available

The new Georgia Hunting Seasons and Regulations Guide is now available.

According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources’ Wildlife Resources Division, the new edition is available both online and in print.   Georgia DNR Spokesperson Melissa Cummings said the guide is a great resource for hunters in the state.

“It is something that is updated annually,” said Cummings. “It is a great introduction for new hunters and it is also something that hunters that have been hunting for their whole life look forward to getting every year and seeing what new information is out there.”

According to Cummings, it includes information such as the season dates for the year, information about hunting licenses and the different types there are and their cost, information about Wildlife Management Areas and what the dates are for possibly hunts on those locations, and information on different types of specialty hunts.

DNR officials have encouraged hunters to review the publication each year for any changes to hunting areas, seasons, or activities.

Cummings said one new hunter service highlighted in the guide this year deals with the state’s new online quota hunt system.

“For hunters who are interested in quota hunts, whether it is for deer or for alligator or for any of the other species, turkey (or) things like that on public lands, there is a new system that is there,” said Cummings. “Even if they created an account in the past, they are going to create a new account and this is going to streamline things for us from here on out. So far, we are having a good experience with that system.”

Printed copies of the new Georgia Hunting Season and Regulation Guide are available at Wildlife Resources Game Management and Law Enforcement offices and license vendors throughout the state.
