Lavonia Woman One of 48 People Arrested in Statewide Drug Sweep

One of the 48 people in last week’s multi-agency drug sweep is a Franklin County woman.

Franklin County Sheriff Steve Thomas identifies her as Terra Whitworth of Lavonia.

Thomas said Whitworth turned herself in to Hall County Authorities at 5p on Friday.

Like the other 47 suspects, she’s charged with Violation of the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act.

On Friday, the GBI, along with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office, announced the arrests after an 11-month multi-county and state investigation into the alleged drug trafficking operation of 43-year old Luther Troy Summerfield and 40-year old Alejandro Ceja-Solano.

Drugs confiscated during the sweep had a total street value of $705,000 and included methamphetamine and heroin.

Also confiscated was $70,000 in cash, along with weapons and vehicles.

Numerous local sheriff’s offices including Franklin and Stephens County Sheriff’s offices were also involved in the investigation.

Authorities say the investigation continues and more arrests are expected.
