Lavonia Fall Festival Set for Saturday

Lavonia’s Fall Festival takes place downtown Saturday

Just a reminder, the Lavonia Fall Festival takes place tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is bringing an array of new attractions and favorite regulars this year.

Sponsored by the Lavonia Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Events Coordinator Janet Appling tells WLHR News this year’s event will see a lot of new vendors.

“We are going to have over 130 vendors and a lot of them are new,” she said. “We’re going to have a lot of pottery this go-around, which is great. We’re going to have a lot of new artists. We have a few new food vendors coming in, including one with a taco truck. Of course, Chris Rice will be here with his BBQ and Mama Lynn. So, we’ll have plenty of food.”

Appling said some artists will be doing demonstrations in front of Sweet Combs of Honey as well.

And this year, there will be a lot of fun things for the kiddos to do at the festival – some old and some new.

“We will have a wonderful children’s area. We will have someone here selling slime, which is very popular these days, puppets, and of course the waterwalkers where the kids get in with the big bubbles, which is so fun,” she said.

There will also be some old favorties, including Papa’s Little Choochoo, inflatables and a petting zoo. Appling said famous cartoon characters will be available as well for photographs.

And no fall festival is complete without entertainment.

“We’re actually going to have entertainment all day long at the Gazebo this year, ” Appling noted. “We’re going to start out with the marshal arts program. Then, the Left On Red Band will be playing. Jess Fowler will be playing at 1p and then we have a jazz band coming over from Hartwell that will be playing for the rest of the day.”

And 92.1 WLHR will be broadcasting live from the festival.

Again, the Lavonia Fall Festival takes place Saturday, September 28, from 9a to 4p.
