Lavonia City Council, Mayor to Hold Day-long Planning Retreat

The Lavonia City Council, City Staff and Mayor will discuss a list of topics Thursday when they meet for a day-long planning retreat in Rabun County.

The retreat, which is open to the public, will be held Thursday at the Lake Rabun Inn & Restaurant beginning at 8:45a.

According to the agenda sent out Tuesday, among the topics up for discussion include the application process for boards, authorities, and commissions; an interstate clean up project, and use by the public of city properties.

The Council and Mayor will also get an update from City Manager Charles Cawthon on the Gateway Sewer project.

At their regular meeting earlier this month, Cawthon said the project is taking the next step, and they are ready to bid the project out.

After lunch the City Council will hear from several people via Zoom including GMRC Planning Director Adam Hazell who will discuss a review of City ordinances, and Chris Quigley on water system planning for the long-term.

The retreat will end with a summary discussion on 2021 goal planning.
