Lavonia Christmas Events Taking Place First Week of December

Christmas Fest in Lavonia takes place Friday, December 6

Lavonia has set its holiday event schedule and there is a lot going on for families and friends to enjoy.

The Lavonia Downtown Development Authority is asking local businesses to decorate their windows and storefronts for the holidays.

DDA Executive Director Vivian Young said first, second and third prizes will be handed out for the most creative Christmas displays.

Winners will be announced during the annual Christmas Fest downtown.

The Lavonia Christmas parade is set for Sunday, December 1 at 3p

And this year’s Lavonia Christmas parade takes place Sunday, December 1 at 3p.

The theme is, “Home for the Holidays” and entry forms for anyone wishing to participate in the parade can be picked up at the DDA office in the historic train depot.

Deadline to register to be in the parade is November 22.

Then on Monday, December 2nd, City officials will light the town Christmas tree at the Gazebo on Main St.

That will be followed by a the showing of the classic Christmas animated feature, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer.

Hot chocolate and cookies will be offered for kids and adults alike.

And finally on Friday, December 6, Lavonia will hold its annual Christmas Festival from 5:30p to 8:30p.

The festival will feature arts and craft vendors, food, carriage rides and Santa will also be on hand for the kiddos to give him their Christmas list.

Local shops will also stay open late that evening for visitors to get in some Christmas shopping.

Applications for vendors for Christmas Fest are still being taken.
