Last Week of Early Voting Begins Today

Today starts the third and final week of early voting before next week’s Georgia Primary.

So far, elections officials in Franklin and Hart county say voting has been steady.

Franklin County Elections Supervisor Gina Banister said voting was brisk Friday.

She said as of mid-day Friday, 641 people had cast early ballots in Franklin County and 42 absentee paper ballots had been returned.

Friday was the last day for Banister to send out absentee paper ballots.

So, if you have not requested an absentee ballot you are no longer able to do so and you will have to either come to the Elections and Registrations office to vote early or wait until next Tuesday, May 24 to vote at your precinct polling place.

Banister also reminded all voters that in this election you must request either a Democrat, Republican, or Independent ballot when you go to vote.  And if you are an independent and plan to vote for either the Democratic or Republican candidates you must request a Democratic or Republican ballot.  Those candidates will not be listed on the Independent ballot.

In Hart County, Elections Supervisor Robin Webb said as of Friday afternoon, 1,013 people had voted early and she had 50 paper ballots returned.

Early voting takes place all this week from 9a to 5p through Friday.

There is no early voting opportunity next Saturday.
