Last Day to Vote Early Before August 11 Run-off Elections

Today is the last day to vote early for next Tuesday’s run-off elections.

Voters in Franklin County are voting in the Republican State Senate District 50 run-off between Republicans Bo Hatchett and Stacy Hall.

Voters in both Franklin and Hart counties are choosing candidates in both a Republican and Democratic run-off for the U.S. House of Representatives District 9 race.

On the Republican side, voters are choosing between Jackson County businessman and U.S. Navy veteran Andrew Clyde and State Representative from Rabun County, Matt Gurtler.

On the Democratic side, voters are deciding between Brooke Siskin and Devin Pandy.

The winners in both run-offs will face off in November.

Franklin County Election Supervisor Gina Kesler said as of Thursday, the Franklin County Board of Elections and Registrations office has had 739 absentee ballots returned of the 1,450 sent out and 361 voters have cast in-person ballots.

Kesler said her office has already begun scanning in the absentee ballots.

“We have opened and scanned 650 in and we’ll finish the rest next Tuesday when the Board of Elections gets here,” she explained. “We won’t validate and publish those results until after 7p next Tuesday night.”

In Hart County, Elections Supervisor Robin Webb said of the 1,940 absentee ballots sent out, 1,028 have been returned, and they have had 549 people vote in person at her office on Cade St.

Webb said they plan to begin scanning absentee ballots on Monday.

Now if you have an absentee ballot and have not sent it in, now is the day to do so.

However, you can hand-deliver your absentee ballot right up until 7p Tuesday evening.
