J.M. Smuckers Recalls Cans of Natural Balance Chicken & Liver Cat Food

If you’re a cat owner who feeds your cat Natural Balance canned cat food, there’s a recall.

The J. M. Smucker Company has announced a voluntary recall of one lot of Natural Balance® Ultra Premium Chicken & Liver Paté Formula canned cat food due to elevated levels of choline chloride.

The Company has received reports of adverse reactions in cats after eating the product.

Pet owners have reported their cats have experienced nausea with excessive salivation, constricted pupils and poor vision, diarrhea or vomiting.

More severe symptoms have included difficulty walking, muscle shaking, tremors, irregular heartbeat, difficulty breathing, possible cardiac or respiratory failure and, in extreme situations, death.

Cat owners are encouraged to contact their cat’s veterinarian immediately if their cat is displaying any of these symptoms.

If you have recently purchased 5.5 oz cans of Natural Balance Ultra Premium Chicken 7 Liver Pate canned cat food with a USE BY date of August 4, 2021 stop feeding it to your cats and dispose of the product.
