Investigation Continues In Elbert Co. Drowning

In Elbert County, the investigation continues into a reported accidental drowning that occurred on June 18^th on Lake Russell

According to Elbert County Sheriff Melvin Andrews, autopsy results received back from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Augusta, GA indicate that 29-year-old Meredith Watkins of Bowman, drowned.

At approximately 1:50am on the 18^th, Watkins body was located in the waters of Russell Lake at the Coldwater Creek Boat Ramp off of State Route 368.

Andrews said his office is still awaiting the results on the toxicology report before closing the investigation into the case.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation continues to assist in the investigation.
