Inmate Who Attacked Two Hart Co Prison Guards Indicted on Multiple Charges

A Hart County man who allegedly attacked two prison guards, seriously injuring one, has been indicted by a Hart County Grand Jury on multiple felony counts.

Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said it happened Sunday, May 9th.

Cleveland said 35-year old Perry Rucker was mopping the floor that night when he suddenly attacked a female guard, allegedly beating her about the head.

The Hart County Grand Jury indicted Rucker on two counts of aggravated battery; one count of possession of a knife during the commission of a felony; one count of robbery by force; one count of aggravated assault on a peace officer; one count of possession of a knife during the commission of a felony; and three counts of unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.

And in a separate indictment, Rucker, along with America Nicole Shackleford were indicted on two counts of escape; one count of interference with government property and one count of aiding another to escape.

Cleveland said Rucker initially came to jail on a probation revocation and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He had been a trustee at the jail when in April he went over the fence and escaped, but was captured a short time later.
