Informational Meeting for Lavonia Renaissance Festival Scheduled for March 8

Another informational meeting is coming up on March 8 for those interested in volunteering for this year’s Lavonia Renaissance Festival.

The meeting will be at 5:30p at the Lavonia Historic Train Depot.

This year’s festival is scheduled for May 1st in Lavonia City Park and this year’s theme is Camelot.

Lavonia Welcome Center spokeswoman Barbara Busby said lots of volunteers are needed for numerous areas including parking attendants, restroom attendants, people to help set up the fair, and people to help clean up afterward.

Also needed are people who are good with money and can handle a fast pace environment to handle ticket and gate sales.

And she says they are still looking for vendors, especially food vendors, according to Busby.

“We are looking for vendor applications, especially food vendors. You can get an application by calling us at 706-356-5725 and we will email it out to you. The charge for new vendors is $25. If you were a vendor in 2019 there is no charge, or if you are a non-profit organization or group there is no charge to be a vendor,” Busby said.

Busby said some of the same entertainers that participated in 2019 will be back this year.

“In 2019 we had the high school that performed a Shakespeare spoof. This year, they’re busy so Savannah River Productions will provide entertainment. Our MC Odie is back this year and he’s hilarious. We’ll have Twister the Clown and we’ll have the petting zoo back, which we hope will be bigger this year,” she said.

A couple of the new vendors and entertainers are already scheduled and include a fire eater and a birds of prey show called the Winged Ambassadors.

Again, the meeting for new volunteers will be at 5:30p Monday, March 8 at the Lavonia Historic Train Depot.

If you need more information you can call Barbara Busby or Vivian Young at 706-356-5725.
