Hart County BOC Passes Pro-Constitution Resolution

Hart County attorney Walter Gordon reads the Pro-Constitution Resolution

While other counties in North Georgia have passed Second Amendment Sanctuary resolutions, Hart County expanded the scope of its resolution coming out in full support of the Constitution.

Tuesday night, Hart County Commissioners voted to pass a resolution making Hart County not a Second Amendment Sanctuary, but a Pro-Constitutional County.

Commission Chair Joey Dorsey asked the attorney for Hart County, Walter Gordon to read the resolution, which begins with the first paragraph of the U.S. Constitution and then outlines each of the Amendments.

“Now, therefore, be it resolved that the government of Hart County, Georgia expresses its thanks to those brave souls whose writing became our Constitution, and that all Hart County citizens be encouraged to read and become familiar with all parts of the U.S. Consitution and that all join in the defense of our Constitution from all attack, foreign and domestic forever,” Gordon said.

“Can I get a motion that we approve this resolution?” Dorsey asked.

“I make a motion that we approve this resolution and be known as a Pro-Constitutional County,” said Commissioner Sayer.

“I second,” said Commissioner Carter.

The motion carried unanimously.

In explaining the reason to adopt a Pro-Constitution resolution, Dorsey said the Board had not only received a lot of phone calls in support of the Second Amendment but in support of all of the Amendments.
