Hart County Man Killed in Freak Accident
A Hart County man died Monday trying to move a hunting blind.
According to Hart County Sheriff Chris Carroll, it happened Monday evening at about 8:35p on Mt. Olivet Road.
Carroll said Hart County Sheriff’s Office deputies, EMS, and Fire responded to the 7200 block of Mount Olivet Road in reference to a man who had fallen from the back of a pickup truck.
The man, identified as Matthew Hill, age 59, of Hartwell, was riding in the bed of the truck while holding a camouflage hunting blind. Witnesses stated the wind blew the blind from the vehicle, pulling Hill out with it.
Due to the severity of his injuries, Hill was transported by LifeFlight to receive advanced medical care but he later passed away from his injuries.
Carroll said the incident remains under investigation.
