Funeral services are pending for a Hart County High School student who died in a one-car wreck.

It happened Thursday morning on U.S.29/GA 8 in Hartwell.

According to Sgt. Al Whitworth with the Georgia State Patrol Toccoa Post, 17-year old Lavoisier Shevez Allen of Royston was headed into Hartwell when the accident happened.

“He was traveling north on Highway 29 toward Hartwell when his vehicle drifted onto the north shoulder of the roadway,” Whitworth said. “He over-corrected, which caused him to travel back across the northbound lane. His vehicle left the roadway and the passenger side struck a tree.”

Allen was taken to AnMed Medical Center in Anderson where he later died from his injuries.

Allen was a rising Senior at Hart County High School and played on the football team.

Whitworth said neither drugs nor alcohol was involved in the wreck, but he said Allen was not wearing his seatbelt.
