Hart County Authorities Capture Suspected Kidnapper Wanted in Maryland

Two children are safe after being rescued by Hart County Sheriff’s deputies from an alleged kidnapper.

According to Hart County Sheriff Chris Carroll, on Monday, July 6, 2026, at approximately 8:46 p.m., the Hart County Sheriff’s Office received a BOLO regarding a vehicle traveling north on Interstate 85.

“The driver was believed to be wanted on outstanding kidnapping-related warrants out of Maryland,” Carroll said. “Hart County deputies located the vehicle near Exit 177 on Interstate 85 and, with the assistance of the Georgia State Patrol, conducted a felony traffic stop. The female driver was taken into custody without incident.”

Carroll added that two young children were safely recovered from the vehicle and were not injured.

The driver was identified as Alicia Denise Brown, age 37, of Atlanta, Georgia.

Authorities confirmed Brown was wanted by the Baltimore County Police Department on warrants stemming from the disappearance of a 10-year-old child who was reported missing in 2019.

Brown was also wanted by the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on felony charges of Interference with Child Custody. Both jurisdictions confirmed the warrants were valid, and Maryland authorities advised they would extradite.

Carrol thanked the quick response and teamwork of our deputies, the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, the Georgia State Patrol, and all assisting agencies. Their coordinated efforts resulted in the safe recovery of both children and the successful apprehension of the suspect.
