Hart Co Humane Society to Hold 14th Annual Dam Dog Walk Saturday

The weather should be perfect for this weekend’s 14th annual Dam Dog Walk in Hartwell.

The event is scheduled for Saturday from 10a to 2p at the Big Oaks Recreation Center on the Anderson Highway in Hartwell.

According to Humane Society President, Donna Madkiff, this is an opportunity to help raise money so the group can help sick and injured animals.

During this year’s Dam Dog Walk, as in past years, dog owners can walk along the path that leads to the dam and back again, about a 2-mile walk round trip.

However, Madkiff said there will be some different fun things for dog owners as they walk.

“We’re having an organized parade that starts at 10a,” she said. “Along the route on the walk, waddle, run trail we will have water for the dogs and their humans along with some prizes that people will be able to pick out. At 11a is an agility demonstration and at the Pet Pageant is at 12:30p.”

Madkiff said there will also be food vendors, along with t-shirts and other items for sale that will go to help the dogs and cats the humane society rescues.

In addition to the Hart County Humane Society, Madkiff said other rescue groups will be there with dogs for adoption, including the Northeast Georgia Animal Shelter.

Again the 14th Annual Dam Dog Walk takes place Saturday from 10a to 2p at the Big Oaks Recreation Center in Hartwell.
