Hart Back 2 School Blast Turnout Better Than Ever – More Supplies Needed

The Hart County Charter System’s Back to School Blast last month was a bigger blast than anybody had hoped for – so much so, they have had to order more book bags.

Coordinator, Assistant School Superintendent Davide Buddenbaum said this week, they were able to provide over 650 students with book bags and other school supplies thanks to the generous donations of Hart County Chamber members and others.

Buddenbaum said it was the biggest turnout ever on July 25, even though it went from an indoor event to a drive-though due to the COVID pandemic.

According to Buddenbaum, on Saturday, July 25th they gave out over 550 bags but had another 100 students arrived after they ran out of premade bags.

Volunteers took the names of those who still needed book bags and supplies and he said using the leftover supplies and a donation from Synovus Bank and Cateechee they were able to purchase additional supplies and more bags.

Volunteers are now needed to help prepare the remaining 100 bags.

Those he said will be delivered to those students who still need them on the first day of school.
