GSP’s SCRT Investigating Fatal Wreck in Hartwell

Charges are likely to be leveled against a Hartwell man involved in a head-on collision this week that killed a woman.

It happened Tuesday night about 8:30p on the Reed Creek Highway in Hartwell.

According to Georgia State Patrol Post 52 Commander Tracy Webb, a 2003 Dodge Ram pick up was traveling south on Reed Creek Highway near Rack’s restaurant when it crossed the center line and struck a 2017 Toyota Camry head-on.

The driver of the Camry, identified as 63-year old Dorothy Link of Hartwell, was killed.

The driver of the pick up, identified as 22-year old Gregory Luke Carnes of Hartwell, was injured and taken to an Anderson hospital, but Webb said he has since been released.

Webb tells WLHR News the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is still investigating the accident and charges against Carnes are pending.
