Franklin County Ethics Board to Consider County Clerk Complaint This Evening

The Franklin County Ethics Board will meet this evening and is expected to discuss a recent complaint filed by Franklin County Clerk Elaine Evans.

Her complaint, filed October 29th, Evans said she was ambushed by County Commission Chair Thomas Bridges and Airport Authority Board member Bill Flowers who came into her office the morning of October 14 without prior notice, shut the door, sat down, and demanded to know why she would not give Flowers the financial information for the Airport.

In the copy of the complaints obtained by WLHR News, Evans said she told Bridges that Flowers already has access to the online bank statements that list all the deposits and checks and he can see them anytime he wants to.

Evans added in her complaint that she reminded Flowers in a previous unexpected meeting that all requests for Airport information are to be directed to the Airport Chairman Eddie Addison or Vice-Chairman Mike Ward.

Evans claims that Flowers then accused her of being a liar and that Bridges, quote, “sat there doing nothing.”

In the complaint, Evans said the incident was part of a pattern of bullying and intimidation by Bridges and Flowers.

In their respective written responses, both men denied any wrongdoing.

It’s not clear if the Board plans to make any decision on the complaint at this evening’s meeting.

Tonight’s meeting takes place at 5:30p at the Franklin County Justice Center in Carnesville and is open to the public
