Franklin Co Citizen Steps Forward to Start Keep America Beautiful Chapter

A Franklin County woman has reportedly stepped up to form a chapter of Keep America Beautiful.

At their meeting earlier this week, County Manager Derrick Turner told the Board of Commissioners he hopes to speak with her in the coming days.

Since April, the County has been looking into starting a Keep America Beautiful chapter after citizens complained about mounting trash on the sides of county roads.

At the time, Commissioner Eddie Wester said he would like to find a way to get citizens and the community involved.

“I’d like to see us get some kind of community project, community awareness,” he said. “Maybe get together with local businesses, citizen groups, and have some days set aside where we do some community clean-ups,” he said.

Turner told the Board last month that the County would be willing to put up the $4,600 necessary to start a KAB chapter in Franklin County but it must be citizen-led.
