Franklin BOC Approves Third Water Meter Moratorium Extension

Franklin County Commissioners have approved two requests from County Manager Terry Harris regarding the county’s water.

At their regular meeting Monday evening, Commissioners first approved awarding a bid to install new water meters to M&E Contractors in the amount of $1.5 million.

Harris said the new meters and installation will be paid for with GEFA funds.

After approving the water meter purchase and installation bid, the Board also approved extending the moratorium on the sale of new water meters another 90 days.

At their work session last week, Harris said they won’t know how much water they will have through the summer months until the warm weather sets in and usage goes up.

Harris added they are still working on finding more sources of water inside the county.
