FCHS Arts Teachers Apply for Fine Arts Diploma Seal for Graduating Seniors

Franklin County High School seniors interested in a career in the arts may soon be able to work towards a special seal that will go on their diplomas.

At their regular meeting this week, the Franklin County Board of Education heard from Band and Chorus Director Chris Sampson and Art Education Teacher Kevin McClain about the Fine Arts Diploma Seal.

He said unlike other school departments in the Career Pathway program, the Fine Arts department, which covers art, drama, and music, does not have any kind of completion certificate.

Sampson said this Fine Arts Seal will tell colleges that the student has completed certain courses and requirements towards their career goal.

Sampson said they have applied for the special seal with the Georgia Department of Education and should hear something by the end of October.

If approved, the program will begin in the spring semester.
