Fatal Crash in Franklin County Early Thursday Morning **EXPIRED**

Georgia State Patrol officials said a 3-year-old was killed in a crash early Thursday morning in Franklin County.

Troopers reported the crash happened around 3:30 a.m. on I-85 South when a SUV ran off the road and overturned near mile marker 164.

A 3-year-old boy, who was a passenger in the SUV, was thrown from the vehicle and died.

The reports stated eight people, including children, were inside the vehicle, including other children, were in the SUV. The other children are believed to only have sustained minor injuries.

The identity of the child who died has not been released at this time.

One adult was also taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital.

The child who died was not believed to have been restrained at the time of the crash but the GSP Accident Reconstruction Team is still investigating the accident at this point.

Troopers said they are also investigating the possibility another vehicle may have been involved.
