FCP Youth Summer Theatre Registration
The Franklin Community Players announced today the registration and auditions for the 2019 Youth Summer Theatre Program are scheduled for Saturday, May 18, 2019 starting at 9 am at the Lavonia Cultural Center. Call backs will take place later that day, at 1 pm. The Youth Summer Theatre Program is open to children aged 8 to 15.
The 2019 Youth Summer Theatre Program will operate Monday, July 8th through Friday, July 19th, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday. On the final day, Friday, July 19th, the program concludes at noon.
The participants in the program will stage a musical, the beloved family classic, THE WIZARD OF OZ. Four performances only are scheduled Friday, July 19th through Sunday, July 21st at the Lavonia Cultural Center. 2019 is the 14th anniversary of the Youth Summer Theatre Program. Ethan Smith has been tapped as the Director for this year’s production.
Enrollment will continue until all slots are filled. Both a parent/guardian and the participant must attend registration and call backs. Spaces are awarded on a first-come-first-served basis. Registration this year is limited to no more than 40 children.
Girls wishing to register should prepare a 30-second vocal portion of the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” a cappella (with no musical accompaniment). Boys must prepare a 30-second vocal audition from the song “If I Only Had a Brain,” also a cappella. To be eligible to participate in the 2019 Youth Summer Theatre Program, children must be no younger than 8 on July 8, 2019 and no older than 15 on July 21, 2019. Children are invited to bring to registration bottled water, a tidy snack and a good book or other quiet activity.
The Franklin Community Players’ Youth Summer Theatre Program has won national recognition and been named among the country’s top summer activities for value. The registration fee for the first child is $100 and includes a t-shirt and cast photo. Additional children from the same household can attend for $90 each. During rehearsals, cast members have use of a THE WIZARD OF OZ script but also have the option to purchase it as a keepsake for $10. The program fee includes two nutritious daily snacks. The registration fee is due upon registration.
