Elbert County toddler’s death appears to be accidental
According to a report by The Elberton Star, the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continue to look into the death of a 2-year-old child who died Tuesday evening, but for now the incident has been classified as an accident.
The body was sent to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy and the findings resulted in authorities classifying the death as an accident.
On Wednesday, Elbert County Coroner Chuck Almond identified the deceased as 2-year-old Wilma Michelle King.
The Elbert County Sheriff’s Office also issued a press release stating the department received a call at 10:54 p.m. on Tuesday about an “unresponsive person” at 2500 Montevideo Road. No additional information was offered in that release and authorities stated no additional details would be provided until the investigation had concluded.
