An Eastanollee man is facing charges in connection with the drug overdose of four individuals last week at a Toccoa motel.

Toccoa Police Chief Jimmy Mize this week released additional information regarding the incident and this week’s arrest.

Mize said on Tuesday, the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office along with the ARDEO Task Force and an Investigator with the Toccoa Police Department executed a search warrant for a residence on Defoor Road, in Eastanollee, where Charles Mayfield was arrested in connection with the sale of the drugs that led to the overdoses.

While executing the warrant in Eastanollee, he said a number of drugs and firearms were located at the residence.

According to Mize, the overdoses occurred on Tuesday, May 19 at the Quality Inn Hotel on Big A Road in Toccoa.  Mize said his officers were called to a room at the Quality Inn for a welfare check.

There they located four unconscious adults in the room, along with a two-year-old child who was sitting on one of the beds.

The child, according to Mize, was removed from the scene and placed with DFCS but was later reunited with family members.

The victims involved in the overdose case have been identified as 32-year-old Catherine Patterson, and 38-year-old Harold Curry, both of Toccoa; 37-year-old William Parker of Rutledge, Georgia and 37-year-old Amanda Adams of Clarkesville.

Mize says Toccoa Fire, EMS, and First Responders were quick to administer NARCAN to the victims who were then rushed to Stephens County Hospital.

Three of the victims survived and were hospitalized. However, Adams was pronounced dead at Stephens County Hospital shortly after arrival.  Adams’ body was sent to the Medical Examiners Office for autopsy.

Mize said that due to the nature of the overdoses, all evidence is being processed by the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta.

He said the case has been under investigation by the GBI and the ARDEO Task Force.

During the investigation, several suspects were interviewed, and evidence gathered.

Mize said the ARDEO Task Force and GBI are continuing to investigate the case.
