Dorsey Wins Re-Election in County Commission Race
In Hart County, Hart County commissioner Joey Dorsey won easily over challenger, businessman Andy Adams Tuesday for the District 5 seat.
Dorsey took 66.16% of the vote to Adams’ 33.84% Dorsey called the win a blessing and he’s looking forward to putting the race behind him.
“I just want to thank everyone for their support over the past twelve years and I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve,” Dorsey said.
Dorsey said he was dismayed by Adam’s attempt stir up controversy during the race. At one point, Adams said he would donate land and materials to begin building a county animal shelter, something Dorsey is against.
“I always try to run a clean race. Unfortunately, my opponent felt the need to sling mud, but I’m glad I can now put this race behind me.”
Dorsey said he will continue make economic development a priority and build better relationships with the local municipalities.
In the only other contest race in Hart County, incumbent Magistrate Judge Tony Wellborn easily won over challenger Ronald Weaver, garnering 79.85% of the vote to Weaver’s 19.99%.
