COVID Vaccination Clinics Set for April 17 in Lavonia, Toccoa

District 2 Public Health will be holding COVID vaccination clinics in Lavonia and Toccoa on Saturday, April 17.

The Lavonia Clinic will take place at the Spring St. Gym in Lavonia from 9a to 1p on the 17th.

Franklin County Health Dept Nurse Manager Angy Fowler tells WLHR News they will be administering the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine to adults ages 16 and over on April 17th .

She said she and her staff will go back to Spring Street GYM and provide the 2nd doses on May 8th.

Sponsored by District 2 Public Health in partnership with Lavonia Community Awareness, the Fannie Mae Simpson Foundation, Step of Faith Outreach and Family Connections, Lavonia Community Awareness founder Gervonte Brown said his group wants to make sure everyone who wants the vaccine has access to it.

“We want to bring awareness to our community by partnering with District 2 Public Health to make a difference in our community,” he said.  “We want to make sure that everyone who wants the vaccine can get it without having to travel to places like Gainesville to get it.”

Brown said he is coordinating rides for anyone who will need a ride to the Spring St. Gym and you can call him at 706-963-9741 to make arrangements.

District 2 Public Health spokesman Dave Palmer said similar vaccine clinics are also taking place this month in both Hart and Stephens Counties.

The Stephens County clinic is happening in Toccoa next Saturday, April 17 at Mt. Zion Church at 115 E. Whitman St.

The Hart County clinic will be Saturday, April 24 at Flat Shoals Baptist Church on Highway 51.
