Corps Closes Reed Creek Boat Ramp Due to Low Water Level

Lake Hartwell’s continued low lake level has caused the Reed Creek Boat ramp off Sarijon Rd. to close until further notice.

As of Saturday, Lake Hartwell’s lake level remained at 652.29ft msl – that’s almost 8ft below full pool.

And it hasn’t changed much since January, when the Corps of Engineers closed multiple boat ramps on both sides of the lake when the lake level was also at 652 ft msl.

Despite the rainfall we’ve had over the past couple of months, it has not been enough to bring the lake up to where it should be this time of year.

That has prompted warnings to boaters and swimmers from the Corps of Engineers Lake Hartwell Project office regarding trees, sand bars, and unexpected drop-offs being closer to the surface than normal.

The Corps also warns boaters that due to frequently changing lake levels, anyone using a boat ramp needs to inspect it carefully to make sure it is usable for their particular vehicle, boat, and trailer.
