Chief Brad Cook and Officer Jared Hightower Complete Advanced Report Writing Course

Law enforcement officers typically spend the better part of their day writing incident reports and other documents for court, etc.

That’s why Canon Police Chief Brad Cook and Officer Jared Hightower enrolled in and recently graduated from an Advanced Report Writing Course at the Georgia Public Training Center.

With an emphasis on detailed and accurate documentation, the Advanced Report Writing course equips law enforcement professionals with the necessary tools to enhance their communication skills and improve overall reporting processes.

The comprehensive training program covered vital topics including the principles of effective writing, grammar, and mechanics, effective report writing elements, law enforcement considerations, and the preparation of special reports.

Understanding that thorough documentation can significantly impact investigations and community relations, Chief Cook said he and Officer Hightower are now better prepared to uphold the highest standards of reporting practices.

“Our department is committed to ongoing training and professional
development to ensure that we serve our community effectively,” said Chief
Brad Cook. “The skills learned in this course will enable us to provide
clearer and more accurate documentation, ultimately leading to better
service for our residents.”

The Chief added that his Department recognizes the importance of continual improvement not only in law enforcement tactics but also in communication skills that are essential for transparency and accountability.

He said as part of this commitment, the department will continue to seek out training opportunities to enhance its capabilities.
