Carnesville to Serve as Location for Movie Shoot This Weekend

Hollywood is coming to Carnesville this weekend.

A movie being shot in Georgia will be filming scenes this Sunday in Carnesville.

The movie is tentatively called, Lumps, about a troubled young man whose mother is behind bars and how he deals with that and growing up at the same time.

Dwight Dyer is a creative director who scouts movie locations in Georgia for feature filmmakers.  He said he has found locations for filmmakers across Northeast Georgia.

“I scour the State for locations. I’ve shot in Elberton before at the library and the theatre. I’ve shot at the Dill’s in Lavonia about a year and a half ago. Carnesville is great and the County, in general, is going to be great. It’s good to get back out there in the Northeast Georgia area. Everybody is so friendly. So I’m definitely looking forward to shooting more in the next couple weeks out that way,” he said.

Dyer said Sunday they will be shooting a bus scene in the Crestview community Sunday morning and at the Franklin County Detention Center Sunday afternoon.

There will be an area for the public to come to watch the film shoot in the morning but the public will not be allowed inside the detention center Sunday afternoon.

Dyer said shooting will begin at 7a Sunday and continue until about 7p Sunday evening.

During fiscal year 2019, which ran from July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019, 399 productions were filmed in Georgia resulting in a record $2.9 billion invested in the state, according to the Georgia Department of Economic Development.
