Body Found Floating in Lake Hartwell

The body of a man was found Wednesday floating in Lake Hartwell on the Georgia side in the Tugaloo Bay subdivision off Highway 77/Exit 177 in Hart County.

People on the shore reported seeing the body floating in the water Wednesday afternoon.

Hart County Sheriff’s Investigator Captain Christopher Carroll said his office was alerted late Wednesday afternoon.

“At approximately 04:55 PM the Hart County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Bow Court, in Hart County, in reference to reports of a body in Lake Hartwell. On arrival, deputies found the body of a deceased individual. The body was removed from the lake with the assistance of Hart County EMS, Hart County Emergency Management, the Hart County Coroner’s Office, and Georgia DNR. Officials are working with other agencies to confirm the identity of the individual,” he said.

Carroll said the investigation is ongoing and at this writing the name of the man has not been released.
