Former Hartwell Physician Tommy Beeson gets 25 years

A Hartwell doctor will spend the rest of his life in a state prison after a jury found him guilty last month of multiple counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, Child Molestation, and Sexual Battery of a Minor.

74-year-old Dr. Tommy Beeson was sentenced earlier this month in Hart County Superior Court to 25 years in prison with no parole.

In March 2018, Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland said once the allegations were made to his office, the case was immediately turned over to the GBI.

As a result of their investigation, Dr. Beeson was charged with five counts of aggravated sexual battery, seven counts of child molestation, and two counts of sexual battery.

Beeson surrendered to authorities in Flagstaff, Arizona on Saturday, March 31, 2018, after his wife contacted authorities and reported him missing.

Beeson had an office in Hartwell and for 35 years practiced Family Medicine, Obstetrics, and Gynecology.

In addition to his office in Hartwell, Dr. Beeson also reportedly had offices in both Greenville and Anderson, South Carolina from 2001 to 2002.

District Attorney Parks White credits the work of Chief Assistant District Attorney Michael Coveney, Assistant District Attorney Branden Pollett, Investigator Hope Cobb, Victim Advocate Akiya Bowman, and SA Ashleigh Isaacson of the GBI, for successfully convincing a Hart County jury of the guilt of Dr. Thomas Beeson for multiple counts of Aggravated Sexual Battery, Child Molestation, and Sexual Battery of a Minor.
