Several Local School Districts Win 2019 Golden Radish Award

Several local school systems are the recipients of the 2019 Golden Radish Award.

The Award is presented by the Georgia Department of Education, along with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, Georgia Department of Public Health, the UGA Cooperative Extension, Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning, and Georgia Organics.

Presented by the Georgia Department of Education and other State agencies, the Golden Radish Award is given to school systems in Georgia who are doing extraordinary work in farm to school programs.

School systems at five levels. Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze Radishes are awarded to recognize schools with varying levels of farm to school programs.

Elbert County School District received a platinum award, Habersham County schools sytem a Gold, and Stephens County Schools received a Silver award.

Additionally, each Golden Radish Award partner organization recognizes and celebrates particular aspects of farm to school success through Farm to School Innovation Best Practice Awards.
